The District has conducted, with public involvement, a hydrologic study that includes a hydrologic model analysis of the Provo River Basin with all tributaries, water imports and exports, and diversions; an analysis of expected flows and storage under varying water conditions; and a comparison of steady state conditions with proposed demands being placed on the river and affected water resources, including historical diversions, decrees, and water rights. The District has prepared a final report documenting the completion of the hydrologic model analysis of the Provo River Basin and the development of the Provo River Simulation Model (PROSIM).
Also, the District will conduct a feasibility study, with public involvement, of direct delivery of Colorado River Basin water from the Strawberry Reservoir or elsewhere in the Strawberry Collection System to the Provo River Basin, including the Wallsburg Tunnel alternative and other possible importation or exchange options. The study shall also evaluate the potential for changes in existing importation patterns and quantities of water from the Weber Basin and Duchesne River Basin, and shall describe the economic and environmental consequences of each alternative identified.
The Wallsburg Tunnel alternative was briefly described in the 1973 Environmental Impact Statement on the Bonneville Unit of the Central Utah Project. There has been no detailed planning on the Wallsburg Tunnel Alternative or other Alternatives to be analyzed in this schedule.
The primary product of this study will be a Feasibility Report which would document the social, economic and environmental effects of proposed alternatives.
