big sand wash reservoir
|
The existing Big Sand Wash Reservoir (graphic) is an offstream water storage facility that is fed by the Lake Fork River via the "C" Canal. It has an existing active storage capacity of 12,000 acre-feet. The proposed plan would raise the dam crest by 21 feet and increase active storage to 21,000 acre-feet.
Of the 9,000 acre-feet of space allocated to the Central Utah Water Conservancy District to store project water, 3,500 acre-feet would be for irrigation.
The additional water for the enlarged reservoir would be supplied by the Lake Fork River and by instream flow releases from Crystal Ranch Reservoir. The water would be delivered through the proposed Big Sand Wash Feeder Pipeline.
