Fork River Flow Control Structure
The Spanish Fork Flow Control Structure will be constructed
for the Central Utah Water Conservancy District (CUWCD) as part of the
completion of the Cental Utah Project Completion Act (CUPCA) . The Structure
is located ten miles southeast of Spanish Fork, in Utah County, Utah
and will direct flows from the Diamond Fork Pipeline to Diamond Fork
Creek located at the mouth of Diamond Fork Canyon and its intersection
with Spanish Fork Canyon. The Structure was designed by the US Bureau
of Reclamation, the Bureau will also provide Construction Inspection
services for the Project.
The main elements of the structure to be constructed are
described below and include:

An extension of the Diamond Fork Pipeline of approximately
1200 feet of 96-inch diameter steel pipe

The reinforced concrete flow control structure,
consisting of the valve operator vault, control building, and sleeve
valve vault.

Associated piping and appurtenances, including two
42-inch sleeve valves, two 48-inch spherical valves, 2 flow meters,
and stainless steel vault liners

Approximately 1200 feet of discharge flowline, consisting
of a concrete box culvert, cast-in-place reinforced concrete stilling
basin and chute

Discharge weir structure to convey 560cfs maximum
flow into Diamond Fork Creek. This structure spans approximately
65 feet and consists of 2 steel I-beams, concrete decks and walls,
and steel grating supported by a pile foundation system.
