GenevaThe CUWCD Water Development Project (CWP) will develop new infrastructure and water sources to utilize approximately 65,000 acre-feet of surface and ground water rights. These developed sources will help supply a portion of the estimated demands of southern Salt Lake County and northern Utah County. The CWP includes:

• The 800 North Aqueduct, which will convey treated surface water from the Utah Valley Water Treatment Plant (UVWTP) to a pump station and storage reservoir complex at the former Geneva Steel site.
• Development of a well field and the necessary infrastructure at or near the former Geneva Steel site.
• The North Shore Aqueduct, which will convey water north to a final storage reservoir, the North Shore Terminal Reservoir.

In addition, a pump station and pipeline will be constructed to convey surface water from the mouth of Provo Canyon to the UVWTP for treatment.

All of the 800 North Aqueduct, with the exception of a small segment from 800 North to the UVWTP, has been constructed. The four-mile Pioneer Crossing segment of the North Shore Aqueduct has been completed, and the North and West segments are under construction. The remaining segment of the North Shore Aqueduct, the seven-mile Vineyard Connector segment, is currently being designed.

The first delivery of CWP water through the new infrastructure is expected to occur in July 2014. Currently, over 95% of available culinary CWP water is under long-term water supply agreements.
